A forest circular walk through a mixture of open field and forest paths. We set off next to the pond at East Dean and after a fairly flat start we gently climb until we reach the South Downs Way at Graffham Down. Then we follow the SDW for a mile or so after which we gently descend a different path all the way to our starting point.
Good shale tracks for most of the forested area. There's a gentle 15 minute climb after about an hour. No stiles.
I did my recce for this walk after a couple of days of heavy rain and there wasn't much mud. I would however recommend a walking pole as parts of the forest tracks were covered with slippery wet leaves. Nothing to worry about, just to be aware of.
Bring something to drink and a snack/picnic. We will have one break about half way through.
When we finish the Star and Garter pub, next to the pond, welcomes rambling groups.
