A scenic walk through the woodland tracks and chalk grassland of the peaceful Austin Lodge Valley to the east of Shoreham. On a clear day we can expect distant views of The Shard, Canary Wharf and the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, contrasting with the wildflowers of the Valley.
The walk includes two steep climbs (one near the start and one towards the end) and one long steady incline. There are approximately five stiles, and one long and steep flight of descending steps.
Although this is a dog-friendly walk, please note the stiles and steps before deciding to bring your dog.
New walkers are welcome to try up to three ‘taster’ walks with us, to help you decide if you’d like to join The Ramblers. There’s no booking required but, if you’re new to our walks, it’s a good idea to contact the leader beforehand to check that this walk will suit you (see contact panel above).
Bring light refreshments for the short break part-way through the walk.
Enjoy more of Shoreham after the walk at The Samuel Palmer, Kings Arms or The Crown pubs, The Mount Vineyard, Honey Pot Cafe or Old Bakery Tea Room. The Shoreham Aircraft Museum and tea room should also be open. This small museum is dedicated to the airmen who fought in the skies over southern England during the Second World War.
