We quickly leave the bustle of Basingstoke behind us and walk through the most delightful rural parkland, fields and woodlands, passing very few signs of human habitation (although we will pass a few badgers' homes) until we approach Alton. The route is undulating with no steep sections.
From Alton we will catch the Number 13 bus (leaving Alton High Street at 09:37) to Basingstoke bus station where the walk will start. For anyone joining us in Basingstoke there is a good train service from Alton to Woking and London in addition to local buses for your return home at the end of the walk. We will use the toilets in Basingstoke before starting the walk. We will pass The Avenue Nurseries near Lasham and may be able to pause for refreshments, if time permits. Refreshments are available in Alton. Bring lunch, snacks and drinks. Expect mud and rain. PLEASE CONTACT THE LEADER IF THE FORECAST IS BAD. IT MAY BE CANCELLED FOR VERY BAD WEATHER AS THERE IS NO WAY OF SHORTENING THE WALK
