Binchester
Join us for a seven mile walk starting in the tiny village of Binchester. We walk along an old railway line towards Bishop Auckland, pass through a wood and follow the edge of a couple of fields to the lower section of Auckland Castle grounds.
While in the castle grounds, we stop for lunch overlooking the river Gaunless as it passes through. We continue past the castle entrance and have the opportunity to view the extensive work done on the gardens in recent months. Heading downhill we get further views of the garden and then those on the shorter walk will leave us and head back to Binchester.
We continue through a wooded area and follow the river Gaunless towards a church before heading up to the old railway line once again. We follow this back to Binchester with a little bit of history thrown in along the way!
As mentioned in the description above, the option of a shorter walk will be available.
