An interesting walk taking in the green, rolling hills of Shropshire along with the industrial remains of a lost mining village. Mining started in 1730's, taking out lead and later barytes, production ceased totally in 1922. There is an amazing aerial ropeway which was constructed by prisoners of war.
Our walk starts from The Bog Visitor Centre Car Park, using footpaths, bridleways and tracks. We visit White Grit, then Mitchell Stone Circle - a Bronze Age stone circle, originally thought to be made from thirty stones but now only fifteen are visible. It is thought to have been constructed with stone from nearby Stapeley Hill.
We then admire the panoramic view from Stapeley Hill and then return to The Bog.
