Overview

Mark the first day of summer with this glorious walk through downs, farmland, river bank and woodland. Starting at Bramber village, we walk south west along the Monarch's Way to get a beautiful view of Steyning Bowl. We then turn back east along the South Downs way and Annington Hill before stopping at the Saxon church at Botolphs. From there the route takes us north up the bank of river Adur, returning to Bramber around the back of the castle and finishing up with a picnic in the castle grounds (or a pint in the Castle hotel if you prefer). The walk includes a fairly steep climb early on, several kissing gates and a couple of stiles

Meet in the Bramber village car park. Parking is free and the number 2 bus stops nearby. There were roadworks in Bramber village in early May requiring a diversion to get to the car park. So please allow plenty of time to get here, so we can leave on time.
