This circular walk of about 5 miles and begins and ends at Meadowfield Leisure Centre car park, with ample free parking postcode DH7 8RG.
The route follows the Brandon to Bishop Auckland Railway Path though woodland trails. Leaving the Railway Path the route ascends out of the valley, providing panoramic views of Durham City and beyond, before circling round we will then walk on a mixture of paths back to Brandon to visit Heritage Blues- the pitman A Miner kneeling testing the air with his safety lamp, by Ray Lonsdale The Brandon Miner/Heritage Blues/Pitman In Durham Our route then takes us along the Brandon to Bishop Auckland Railway path back to the start.
We will be taking a path through a woodland area following Scripton Gill which can be rather muddy, if the weather prior to the walk is poor then we will walk following the road instead.
Directions: From Chester - le- Street take the A167 and turn right at Neville’s Cross (A690), turn left at the bottom at the mini roundabout staying on the A690. Drive through Langley Moor. There is a blue sign for Meadowfield just after a church to your left with open grass to your right, take the next right which is signed for the Council offices and the Sports Centre.
