We will begin this walk from Cardross railway station, situated on the north side of the Firth of Clyde between Dumbarton and Helensburgh. The start of the walk we make our way across the first of several railway level crossings and head in a westerly direction along the shore for a short distance, before crossing yet another level crossing and moving inland.
This then is the start of a steady ascent to Asker Farm on the edge of Overton Muir. This is the highest point of the walk and offers tremendous views across the Firth of Clyde and beyond.
On the descent we will reach a low level trig point, overlooking Renton. We continue making our way down over open fields and following a series of meandering paths and farm tracks. We do in fact walk through several farms with various livestock.

I would would describe the grade of this walk as C+ when using the old grade system.
For those attending you can expect the vast majority of the paths and tracks underfoot to provide comfortable walking.
Please bring poles and gaiters, they could come in handy when crossing some of the open moorland.
The walk does encompass a variety of good tracks, soft moorland, with one or two gates to be climbed.
