Did you know. In the 14th century the castle at Castle Rising became the luxurious residence of Queen Isabella, widow (and alleged murderess) of Edward II. Queen Isabella, the mother of Edward III, was "imprisoned" at Castle Rising after her part in the murder of her husband. However, she actually lived in luxury in a new red-brick palace built for her.
