Overview

These are the details for the walk on 24th August 2024, Causey, Tanfield and Beamish

The walk will begin in the car park next to “The Poppy Coffee shop, Causey.”

Post code: NE16 5EJ

What 3 words : ///rejoined.ideals.crabmeat

There are toilets in the coffee shop and the parking is free.

The walk is 4.94 miles and of a moderate level .

The terrain is quite mixed , with some man made steps, up and down, a couple of reasonably steep inclines and declines , we also cross 5 stiles.

The walk is mainly on well serviced riverside and Woodland paths and one open field.  Some of the woodland paths can be quite overgrown and muddy dependent on the weather conditions so would suggest long sleeved & trousers, sticks and gaiters would also be beneficial if it’s been raining.

We begin the walk by progressing through causey woods , crossing a couple of bridges and climbing some steps. The walk then continues on a path across Oxpasture hill and over the A6076.

The walk then takes us through Carrickshill  and hell hole wood and across beamish golf course . We then have a short road walk before heading past beamish hall and through Coppy wood to make our way up to park head farm, past the old causey school house before dropping back down to the car park .
