Overview

Overview: A circular challenge walk. 2,000 feet of ascent in under 10 miles. Starting in East Dean and with a finish close to the Tiger Inn should anyone wish to relax with a cold drink at the end of a tough walk.

Climbing immediately out of East Dean to Friston Pond, then dropping down to Friston Place, up Snap Hill, down to Charleston Bottom, up and over to West Dean, then up (the West Dean steps) and over to Exceat. At this point it is possible to finish the walk and get the bus back to East Dean. The best (the Seven Sisters) has been saved until last. We follow the higher path out of Exceat before dropping down to the Cuckmere River, then climbing the tallest of the Sisters and following the relentless roller-coaster that follows until we make the final climb up to Went Hill and down into East Dean. There are few flat sections on this walk as the profile in photos section above (2 of 2) shows.

This is only a personal challenge, no records are being set, and the expectation is that we will all walk together. Just have fun and enjoy the views, regardless of the weather.
