A circular hike from Eglwysbach on a mixture of footpaths and quiet country lanes, a large part of our route follows the North Wales Pilgrim’s Way. On a good day there are excellent views across the Conwy Valley towards Tal Y Fan, Drum and Foel Fras. Our high point is about 250m.
The name Eglwysbach means “Small Church”. The church is very big for a small village. This is because it was a church associated with the former Maenan Abbey. The walk explores a very quiet area around Afon Hiraethlyn, a tributary of the Afon Conwy.
After the hike for those that are interested we will go the the cafe at Bodnant for refreshments
Some steep sections, primarily on the country lanes, however walking sticks are useful. There are also a couple of tricky styles. Some of the path is bordered by brambles / nettles so long trousers are advisable. We may encounter cattle in the fields we pass through.
Note parking is limited so please car share if possible.
The public toilets in the village are closed
