Overview

CAUTION You will need stout footwear (not trainers) for this walk as we go through woods, with some mud and leaf mulch which can be slippery on steps (there are quite a few steps). Also bring a packed lunch as although Chester has got many cafes, a Saturday is likely to be busy with queues.

The start of the walk is Chester Railway Station.  Walkers may choose whichever way to get there but the start time will be 1000 outside the Railway Station.

The circular walk visits many historic buildings, several parks, the picturesque riverside/canal and most of the intact City Walls. The walk is mostly flat, with a few gentle gradients and steps up to and down from the City Walls and various bridges. The walk is almost entirely on well made paths and roads
