A lovely walk which takes us into the Aston Rowant Nature reserve on both sides of the motorway, also into Cowleaze woods and briefly into the Wormsley estate. The area is very hilly and will involve some ups and downs. We start on the south side of Aston Rowant and head downhill to the Ridgeway path before making our way back up through woods and on the edge of the Nature reserve. Red kites can be seen abundantly here. We then walk through Cowleaze woods and near Vicars Farm where we will have our lunch stop on some well placed logs. We then head North through Langley green plantation and Hailey wood and emerge on the road. We cross the motoway via the bridge and then head into the North side of Aston Rowant. Walking on the edge of Beacon hill we regain the Ridgeway path to cross under the motorway this time and retrace our steps back to our starting point. The views are amazing and far reaching on a clear day. Some paths may be very muddy after rain. 310m ascent
Bring a packed lunch
Do join me for refreshments afterwards, in the Fox and Hound PH in Christmas Common just down the road from the car park, to toast the final walk in the series.
