Craster, Howick and Longhoughton. A very scenic walk along the Northumberland coast and across rolling farmland from Rumbling Kern to Craster and on to Dunstanburgh Castle, returning to the start point via Howick Hall (home of Viscount Howick, a descendent of the 2nd Earl Grey, prime minister and sponsor of the 1832 Reform Bill)
Well-defined paths (including England Coast Path), slight inclines, a little road walking towards the end and 1 stile. There are public facilities in Craster. Moderate difficulty.
There will be a picnic lunch en route. The Running Fox in Longhoughton is open until 5 pm for post walk refreshments.
Sea Houses Farm, Howick (Grid Ref NU259173; Post code NE66 3LH) Directions to start point: Take A1 north of Alnwick then B1340 towards Denwick and Seahouses. Continue in the direction of RAF Boulmer and Howick Hall. After passing Howick Hall on your left, continue along the road for about a mile and turn right as the road turns left, parking in front of Sea Houses Farm.
