Starting from Livingston North Railway Station this circular walk will head along residential streets on the edge of Deans to reach Dechmont parkland & continue through the woodland to reach the site of the well known UFO sighting in 1979 before going up & over Deer Hill. The route then takes us along the edge of the woodland again before we ascend Dechmont Law with its fine views across West Lothian & beyond. We will then walk through Carmondean to return to the start.
We will be walking along surfaced paths & unsurfaced woodland tracks which can be muddy after rain. The hills are not big ones especially Deer Hill & if you do not wish to ascend Dechmont Law you can walk around the base of it.
Although sunset is not until 8.14pm it is wise to get in the habit of having a headtorch with you on evening walks now.
