Best by 79 and 77 Bus walk! Starting from the highest point in East Sussex we follow part of the South Downs Way from Ditchling Beacon to Pyecombe past Jack and Jill windmills. We then begin to ascend the first of three big hill climbs by Sussex standards to the magnificent viewpoint of Wolstonbury Hill. We then drop back down to the A23and Wayfield Farm shop before ascending steeply again, this time to the summit of Newtimber Hill. Another steep descent brings us to the bottom of the Devils Dyke before the toughest climb yet up to a hillfort , a pub and buses home. Although mainly good tracks, this is a tough walk by local standards with three steep climbs of 600 feet. Good boots and a reasonable level of fitness will be essential to attend this walk- Toilets and snacks available at Wayfield Farm shop at our halfway point, but please bring plenty of water and a snack to keep you going.Max number of walkers 30.
Brighton and Hove Walking Festival walks must be pre booked. I strongly suggest you book once for all the walks you might want to go on and cancel later as there is a council survey to complete. Booking opens June 1
