Overview

The walk follows the Tame Valley Walkway. We will walk on the terrace above the River Tame, passing Dosthill Hall, crossing the ancient Watling Street before descending to the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal. The canal path takes us past Fazeley Marina and the unusual Drayton Turret footbridge, to the RSPB Reserve at Middleton Lakes. For our lunch break, we will divert to the Courtyard at Middleton Hall where there is a café. Our return journey takes us back across the canal, then across the River Tame then through woodland to the edge of Dosthill. The walk uses paved paths, a canal towpath, gravel paths in the Reserve then through a muddy woodland path, before a steep uphill climb to the Norman Chapel dating from the 12th Century. There are no stiles.
