Overview

A walk from Penny Ferry Bridge (Halfpenny bridge) over the Wear in Durham, to and around Frankland Ponds.  The walk is on tarred paths, but around the Ponds , it is on well worn woodland tracks (with tree roots), and in places very near the edge of the ponds.

Meet on the east side of the Penny Ferry footbridge (Halfpenny bridge), on the open area by the new University Business School; next to the Sands and the Sixth Form Centre. There are chargeable car parks nearby. The bus station is not far away in North Road, There is a National Trust car park (free for members) at Crook Hall.
