Enjoy beautiful views, scenic paths, and interesting historic sites as you make your way over the open hillside and through the woodlands. The walk starts with a steep climb to the summit of East Lomond, the site of an ancient hillfort. The trail then descends steeply and continues past Maspie Burn through the woods, passing Yad Waterfall, after which it returns to the village of Falkland. Care is needed in wet conditions when the paths become very muddy and slippery. There are also steep sections and numerous rough steps. Appropriate footwear is required for this route and walking poles are recommended.
This walk is described as MODERATELY CHALLENGING
At the end of the walk there will be an opportunity to explore historic Falkland, the first conservation village in Scotland with an optional visit to the Pillars of Hercules Organic shop, cafe and plant nursery.
There are “pay” toilets available in the car park at the start of the walk.
Estimated finish time 1400 hrs.
