Great chance to sample Walk 1 of the popular 23 new Telford Coronation Walks. A lovely leisurely ramble which includes part of the old market town of Newport, a waterside walk along the remains of an old canal, part of the Strine Brook, and a wander down quiet lanes and across farmed countryside. This is a circular walk beginning from The Lion PH in the old village of Edgmond with its many listed buildings around the site of its church, instead of the published start for this Coronation Walk. At the walk end there is an optional social get together over drinks, light bites and/ or the full lunch menu at The Edgmond Lion, where the community have reopened and revived a friendly village pub. Family. friends and non members are very welcome to come along and enjoy a friendly social Ramblers walk.
Please bring a drink and optional snack for a short rest/ water stop break during the walk. If you want to eat at the pub afterwards please can you let the leader know in advance, as we need to guarantee a minimum number for the pub to organise catering staff. Dogs on leads please with the leader's permission in advance, please contact the leader if you want to bring your dog. There is a regular bus service to The Edgmond Lion Bus stop from Newport, and a regular bus service between Newport and Telford, change buses at Newport if you want to use public transport.
