We are the North Hampshire Downs Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Chestnuts and Finchampstead Ridges (Approx. 10 miles) A lovely walk through woodland and around lakes in Berkshire and the opportunity to bag a booty of chestnuts. Bearing in mind the weather we have had this summer, I cannot guarantee a good harvest of nuts. So join me and your fellow members for some chestnut fun. Park and meet at Simons Wood car park, Wellingtonia Avenue, Finchampstead , Wokingham, Berkshire RG45 6AE There will be a coffee stop where there is a kiosk and toilets. You may want to bring snacks and drinks, plus a packed lunch. We will stop to eat our packed lunches near a pub where you can pop in for a quick drink and to use the toilets. Please dress appropriately. At the end we may able to gather some chestnuts. DON'T FORGET YOUR CARRIER BAGS! See you there.
A varied walk through forest and by lakes and stream. Few stiles. Maybe mud. Wear proper gear and poles maybe useful. Possible chestnut gathering at the end.
