The walk starts at The Crown Inn at Gayton and follows the newly opened W Acre Way for the first mile or so. Having left the village, we will not follow the path into the actual re-wilding area, but may be lucky enough to spot White Park cattle, Exmoor Ponies and/or Iron Age Pigs in the fields adjacent to the path. We will cross the B1153 into the village of Gayton Thorpe and up to St Mary's Church, which sits in a lovely setting on the green. The church tower dates probably from C11th, making it one of the earliest round towers in Norfolk. We will then return to Gayton via minor roads and walk through the village and back up to the C13th St Nicholas Church.
Lovely lunches, including sandwiches, jacket potatoes etc are available in The Crown to complete the Gayton experience !
For those wishing to dine, the landlady has asked us to pre-order lunch. Karen will share the menu and take orders at the start of he walk.
Please car share where possible to avoid filling the pub CP.
The pub is on the 48 and 49A bus routes.
