A walk in the city exploring Glasgow's culture, life, art and diversity with the famous street art of the Glasgow Murals Trail which forms a route around the city. During the walk there may be warm ginger wine and after the walk, a pizza restaurant is suggested for those who want to linger in Glasgow.
Devised by Glasgow City Council many different local artists were commissioned to create their own street art celebrating the life and history of Glasgow. Hence dull alleyways, street corners and tenement walls, have become impressive colourful displays of public art.
The Murals Trail is an opportunity to explore the city and experience the fascinating unique paintings depicting intricate imagery, huge portraits, bizarre and quirky art and youth storytelling through the medium of graffiti.
The walk starts 10.15am at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Buchanan Street by the Donald Dewar statue. It takes in the Merchant City, Cowcaddens, Anderston, Tradeston and Townhead.
A chance to explore and enjoy public art and storytelling in the nooks and crannies of the city walls and alleyways of Glasgow which can often be missed in the hustle and bustle of the city. Some of the works are huge and easily spotted while others are less obvious and harder to find.
The best travel option is by train. Based on where most of our group members live, there are plenty of options:
Note the time has been changed from 10am to 10.15am to suit Sunday train times.
