The walk takes in parts of GM Ringway Stage 17, the Salford Trail walk 10, and the Glazebrook Trail and includes the scenic crossing of Chat Moss via Little Woolden Moss Nature Reserve. The walk is on good paths and tracks.
Following the GM Ringway we soon we walk alongside the Glaze Brook, then pass along a green track. After another short urban stretch we cross the East Lancs Road at Lately Common, then take the Glazebrook Trail through meadows and woods. We pass the historic Light Oaks Hall (early 17th century, Grade II listed) and follow the Salford Trail across Chat Moss, circuiting around Little Woolden Moss Nature Reserve. We continue across Cadishead Moss to Irlam Station with its magnificent tea-room and bar open for refreshments in the restored station building.
