The walk is mainly on good field paths and tracks, although there are some muddy areas. The walk starts with a steep ascent of Harter Fell, about 750ft in 1.5 miles. We then descent towards the reservoir. The remainder of the walk is fairly flat. There are a couple of beck crossings over stepping stones, and a few stiles over walls that are a bit tricky. There were cattle in one field on the recce but they took no notice. There is one section along a minor road for a short distance. There are public toilets near the walk start and at the visitor centre at the reservoir.
