This walk has some quite long stretches of flat areas, some moderate hills and a steep ascent to Boddington Hill Fort. The pace will be moderate. Some paths could be muddy if there has been recent rain. Walking boots recommended. Walking poles recommended if you use them.
We will start along a woodland path and make our way through woodland paths with gentle hills, then around Halton House and to the churchyard of St. Michael and All Angels in Halton where there are benches, to eat a packed lunch. We'll resume along footpaths through RAF Halton, past the rifle range (which could be operating) and to the Wendover Arm of the Grand Union Canal via Olivers Bridge. We will follow the towpath to the start of the canal in Wendover, then make our way through the edge of the town and steeply up to the top of Boddington Iron Age Hill Fort. We will then follow gentler slopes back to the car park.
For anyone not wanting to climb up to Boddington Hill Fort, it is very easy to miss it out and take a straight forward path back to the path where we started which isn't far from the car park.
Well behaved dogs allowed. Some may be disturbed by the proximity of the rifle range if operating.
