Overview

We will set off downwards in the Open Access area, initially on Three Rivers Ride before turning down to the fields and beyond and then briefly onto Offa’s Dyke path before going on to Hill Farm. We then turn back down through the steep woods and across to Darren. Before dropping south to the various Blaendigedis before eventually heading back, walking below the parking area.

Some livestock and there will be a few of stiles, befitting a rural walk, including an A-frame. Some long hills to climb too. One issue on the walk requires us to climb a difficult gate. Also, if you use poles then they should be of assistance on some of the descents.

If you would like to join this walk, please book a place with the leader. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking so that someone else can take your place. If you turn up without booking, we may have to turn you away.

Registered assistance dogs only.

Bring a packed lunch.

Car sharing is encouraged to minimise car parking, fuel cost and carbon footprint.

Meeting at the Stone Circle parking site below Hay Bluff (afternoon.dawn.whoever). It’s in the middle of nowhere so no post code. Leave Hay centre going past the road on the left for the main car park, down the hill and turn left at the bend at the foot of the hill onto Forest Road, signposted Capel y Ffin (behind you). Continue rising for about 2-3 miles on a narrow winding road until you come to a wide fork, keep right, signposted Capel y Ffin (PS if you ever get there you’ve gone far too far!) Up and over the cattle grid. Continue climbing for a couple of miles, until you come to the parking site on the right, below Hay Bluff – (quite how it qualifies as a Stone Circle with only three stones, I’m not sure, but feel free to bring your dowsing rods).
