Overview

Easy leisurely walk from Hertford North Station through woods, past St Leonards Church with its Norman apse,  along the River Lea to Ware.  Either an early lunch stop or a coffee stop in Ware, returning along the New River,  past its source and back into Hertford.  It may be muddy in parts.   A hill to start with, then fairly flat and generally good paths although  a bit uneven along the New River. There are plenty of cafes in Ware for lunch or a snack, but if you prefer bring a packed lunch.
