Overview

Starting from the Three Moorhens pub, we cross the A602 by footbridge, skirt around Charlton and head towards Maydencroft Lane. After crossing the Lane we take the Tatmore Hills track (a former main thoroughfare between Charlton and Preston) in the general direction of Preston, as far as Sootfield Green (a medieval settlement). We then hang a right and head towards West Wood where we meet the Chiltern Way and walk past Offleyholes Farm and Pinnacle Hill. The path turns left, and we head along Hoares Lane as far as Windmill Lane, which we take and head back to Charlton. After passing the source of the River Hiz at Wellhead, we climb the hill past the pigs, and follow the path back to the pub.
