From The Raddle pub at Hollington, which has stunning views over lovely Staffordshire countryside, we walk towards the ruins of Croxden Abbey, one of Henry VIII's casualties where in 1538 the abbey was converted into a farm. From there we take a route over fields and lanes to Great Gate and the Medieval whipping post to which offenders were tied and whipped! We continue across more fields and tracks and eventually return to Hollington where drinks can be enjoyed. There will be a coffee stop and a lunch stop on the walk.
We can park at the pub as long as we use the part of the car park which is at the other side of the building if coming from the village down Quarry Bank. They do not want us to park on the part of the car park which is before the pub and in front of the log cabins, tables with umbrellas and a couple of transparent pods.
When approaching from the village of Hollington, you take a narrow lane to the left, signposted The Raddle, and the pub is on the left opposite fields, one of which has picnic tables belonging to the pub.
