Overview

From Horsley, south to River on Mill Lane and through woodland, along River to Ovingham, then up along the east side of Whittle Dene to Whittle Farm and over the A69 up to Spital and back via Duns Law and Horsley Hill.

Mainly good field and woodland paths, with long but gentle inclines. Some short stretches of road walking and towards end of walk we have to cross the A69 dual carriageway, where care will be required. At the time of pre-walk, very dry underfoot, though approach to Spital could be a quagmire after heavy rain.

Refreshments – There will be a coffee stop en-route. There is a cafe (The Hearth) and a pub (The Lion and Lamb) for after-walk refreshments for those who want them.
