We start by walking down the access road and turn right and pass the Carr's Billington works ( forklift working in this area) we then follow the track to Winskill, cross Briggle beck to Winskill passing through a small wood, we then head to Hunsonby and turn westwards passing South view farm and follow the path to Little Salkeld where we turn right and then turn left to Long meg and her daughter's. We carry on northwards to the road then turn right to Daleraven bridge, after crossing the bridge we turn left and follow the river path to Eden bridge. We follow a short path to Fiddler's lane where turn left to the B6413 for a short stretch to Lazonby Station.
This walk has some muddy paths and a couple of short sections on roads and passes some small hamlets. We are never to far away from the railway.
Just a reminder for Tuesday's walk from Langwathby Station to Lazonby Station. If coming by car, we catch the 0845 from Lazonby to Langwathby arriving at 0852. Car parking at the station is restricted as the car park is used by the factory workers at Bell's. If coming by train it's the 0824 from Carlisle to Langwathby hopefully for a 0900 start. We start from the station at Langwathby towards the villages of Winskill & Hunsonby and then towards Little Salkeld with lunch at the Long Meg and her Daughters stone circle. We proceed in a North westerly direction along the river to Eden Bridge and then along Fiddlers Lane to Lazonby Station. The return journey to Carlisle by train from Lazonby is at 1308 as the next service to Carlisle is at 1535 so hopefully we will catch the 1308. Please feel free to contact me for further details or information. Cheers Maurice
