Overview

Whichever way you walk from Leintwardine you are bound to get some splendid views (at least on a fine day). Although this walk is just over 9 miles with 1000 feet of climbing, the ascents are gentle and with very few stiles the going doesn't present any serious challenges and follows decent tracks with little mud. We start with a gentle climb out of Leintwardine via Billings Wood to Mocktree Barns and then head for Hollows Farm and take the access track to cross over the A4113. From here a path leads to Stubbs Coppice which we follow to Wetmore, before returning via Jays Coppice to Shelderton Hill. After dropping down to Stormer Hall we finish along by the river Clun.

At various points on the walk we can expect to get far reaching views across to the Clee Hills on the way out and also the Welsh hills on the way back. On the recce for this walk I saw a number of deer, a hare, the seasons' first snowdrops and flocks of fieldfares and yellow hammers - so keep your eyes peeled ! Leintwardine is on the A4113 between Ludlow and Knighton. When approaching from the Ludlow direction drive through the town and turn left immediately past the garage (on your right). There is usually ample parking on the road and also in front of the hotel.
