Following a different route than our usual walks in Little Glenshee, we will walk through Little Glenshee before leaving the old drovers track and head to Creag Liath. Walkers will be able to visit the summit should they wish. This will involve a 200m walk across heather and a wooden fence to climb but will give outstanding views to the north. We will return to the track and continue eastwards before joining our normal ascent track to Craig Gibbon but turning west to return to the car park at the ford. Apart from the short ascent on to Creag Liath we will be walking on tracks. We will hopefully get impressive views both to the north and south. There are three or four minor fords to cross. No stiles apart from the fence at the summit.
Whilst nearly all the walk is on tracks and is therefore relatively easy underfoot, we do cross high moorland so people should treat the walk as a hill walk and dress accordingly. Sticks recommended. Local grade B.
Limited parking so please car share when possible.
The leader will go directly to the start.
