We leave the carpark and head down the access road to Ward House. Shortly before the private house, a grassy path heads off through the woods. The path becomes faint as it meanders through the woods to Ladymuir Reservoir. Through a plantation now, the trail joins a plantation access track and onwards to a stane dyke. At this point we cross over a style that has seen better days and head out to cross the marsh towards our climbs of both Craig Minnan and Windy Hill. After descending Windy Hill we follow the boggy path by the fence back the stane dyke style. The return route is then beside the Locher Water with its bridges in varying states of dilapidation. This is a wet, boggy and muddy route back through lovely woodland. Waterproof boots required and if you use gaiters and/or poles, they are recommended.
