We are Herts Weekend Walkers, HWW for Short . We are aimed at people aged in their 40s, 50s & 60s who are normally working during the week and can usually only find time to get outside and enjoy a walk at the weekend.

A walk through fields, along the Watling Chase Timberland Trail and along gravel paths taking in Willows Farm, Colney Heath and the River Colney and Willows fishing lakes. We will get several gimpses of the conveyor which takes gravel from the Tytenhanger Sand and Gravel quarry, but as its a Saturday it won't be working - so the peace of the area shouldn't be disturbed. There will be great views across the fishing lakes from both sides as we walk past the weekend fishermen enjoying their sport. We will meet and finish at 'Telfords bridge' on the green outside The Green Dragon public house. and will return to the pub and can grab a 'swift half 'after the walk.
The route can get very muddy in places after rain, and we will be walking beside the lakes as well as across heathland, be prepared for all weather possibilities. Dogs will need to be on leads for at least half of the walk.
This is a moderate pace walk. We want everyone to enjoy our walks, if you have any concerns about the pace please speak to the walk leader.
Meet on the green area in front of the Green Dragon pub, near Telfords Bridge, Waterside, London Colney, AL2 1RB. There a small public carpark beside St Peters church, opposite the pub. Other parking available on local residential streets.
