The walk begins at the café in Longford Park, which is about 15 mins walk from the tram stop at Stretford. We set off across Turn Moss playing fields, onto the old Hawthorn Lane and then onto the bank of the Mersey. We will walk towards and alongside Sale water park, arriving at the tree Tops café, then we walk back across to the other bank of the Mersey, crossing at Jacksons Boat bridge. We will then cross fields returning via Turn Moss playing fields to the café at Longford Park.
It is level terrain on well-made paths the whole round but some lengths of path would not be suitable for buggies or wheelchairs. Toilets are available at the beginning and end of the walk and also at the Tree Tops café approximately ½ way round. We will stop for a drink at Tree Tops café for ¼ hr and people can eat lunch there on the picnic tables provided. For the Birdwatchers amongst us there is the possibility of sighting less common local birds.
