There will be two options available on this walk. We will all walk from the Nelson Pit car park along the Macclesfield Canal and then cross towards the West Park Gate and on to the Timber Yard in Lyme Park for mince pies and mulled wine.
There is then the option to continue the 8 mile walk via the Cage, Lantern Wood, Paddock Cottage and The Knoll before heading back to Nelson Pit, OR to take a shorter, flatter route (6 miles and 650ft of ascent in total) via Parkgate, Brookside Farm and the canal back to Nelson Pit.
Risk assessment: Car free route except within Lyme Park. Mostly good paths and tracks but also some ascents of possibly muddy paths and through paths in the woods. A few ladder stiles. Deer and possibly cattle in Lyme Park.
Please contact the walk leader if you wish to bring a dog. Please let the walk leader know of any health issues they should be aware of.
