We are the Rutland Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.

We start by walking down the lane past the pub, eventually reaching the Rutland Water cycle track. After a short distance we head west on a bridleway to Gunthorpe, and then continue on to Brooke. After a short stop for refreshments, we return via the site of Martinsthorpe (medieval village) and on to Manton. This is a fairly flat route on tracks and field paths, with just a couple of stiles to negotiate.
A picnic is not required on this walk as we should finish by 12.30 at the latest. We will have a ‘coffee break’ at Brooke.
Dogs are welcome on this walk, with the proviso that they are on leads at all times
The Horse & Jockey will be open at the end of the walk for those wishing to have something to drink - or indeed lunch
Please consider car sharing arrangements with other members to reduce the pressure on parking spots at the start of the walk.
In the event of severe weather, please contact the leader on the day of the walk to check the walk is still on.
Horse & Jockey pub (St Mary’s Rd) Please park courteously on St Mary’s Road or Stocks Hill (not in the pub car park). If any difficulties, there is plenty of room on the verge of Lodge Lane. When turning off the main road (A6003) onto Lyndon Road, Lodge Lane is the first turn on the right (quiet lane because it is essentially a dead end).
