Overview

An interesting walk, first following field paths by the River Dove from the charming village of Marchington to the historic market town of Uttoxeter.   In Uttoxeter we join the Staffordshire Way, ascending through a modern residential area and then continuing through rural Staffordshire countryside as far as New Thorntree Farm on the edge of Marchington Woodlands.  We leave the Staffordshire Way, proceeding along country lanes through Marchington Woodlands, surely one of the hidden gems of our county, with it's close knit and friendly farming community, attractive countryside and some great views.  We proceed back towards our starting point, following Stock Lane and then on field paths close to an equestrian centre before crossing the busy B5017 road back into Marchington.
