Join Glasgow Young Walkers for a walk in the Menteith hills close to Aberfoyle. The walk will follow the Rob Roy Way for a wee while, then we will head to Lime Craig and the top of Craig of Monievreckie (https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/sub2000/craig-of-monievreckie ), which is a sub-2000 and a Marilyn.
Getting there
By car: The starting point of the walk is 1 hour by car from the city centre of Glasgow. If you can offer a lift, please add this to the comments with the number of places you have. Non drivers will be expected to contribute towards fuel costs.
Public transport:
There is a train at 7:41 am from Queen Street to Stirling. Bus nr. X10A leaves from Goosecroft Rd (Stance B) to Aberfoyle and arrives at the Tourist Information Centre in Aberfoyle at about 9:12 am. There are regular buses back to Stirling from Aberfoyle.
Please note that number of attendees is limited to 12 people for this walk.
This is a moderate walk which is suitable for all fitness levels. The ascent to the top of Craig of Monievreckie is steep and could be very boggy. Please wear suitable walking boots and bring your full waterproofs. Please also make sure that you have food and water on you.
The plan is to go a pub/café in Aberfolyle after the walk.
