Meall Fruar-Mhonaidh is the most prominent summit by Loch Ness and is a Fiona class mountain, offering views as far as Ben Nevis on a good clear day!
The walk starts at the car park at the end of Bunloit Road, with a gradual accent at first but this becomes steeper as the walk progresses. A good level of fitness is required for this walk.
Please bear in mind that if weather conditions are bad, there is a possibility that this walk will need to be rescheduled as the region is quite exposed with very few areas for cover. Also please note that this is a hill walk and there may be snow and ice on the ground. Hill walking and winter walking experience is required.
Please sign up to the walk by contacting the walk leader by 7pm the evening before.
There is a trail all the way up but it is rough terrain that involves walking along stream beds and steep rocky sections. There is likelihood that some areas will be boggy.
Walking boots are a must, and if you have gaiters these will help if there are boggy sections. Walking poles are recommended but not a requirement. If you have pull on spikes (microspikes) for your boots bring them as there may be icy sections depending on local weather conditions nearer the time.
Kit list: walking shoes/boots, waterproofs, extra layers (incl. hat & gloves), walking poles.
Contact the walk leader beforehand if you have questions about the kit required for this walk.
Please bring plenty of food and drink as this will be a day's activity.
