A circular route starting at the Mugdock Country Park East Car park. The route heads down to the Mugdock and Craigmaddie Reservoirs and from the reservoirs follows the Allander Water before heading up through Mugdock Wood to Mugdock Castle and the Country Park Visitor Centre. The route then heads out past Drumbrock Loch and down Cuilt Brae to Strathblane, returning via Dumbrock Muir. Most of Mugdock Park is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) mainly on account of its woodland and heathland habitats. Mugdock Castle is designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Dumbrock Loch Meadows is also an SSSI and surrounds Loch Dumbrock. This SSSI comprises a large area of unimproved, herb-rich, lowland grassland which is nationally rare. The walk offers a variety of terrain with mature woodland, riverside paths, open moorland with views of the Strathblane Hills, and the reservoirs. Generally good paths and tracks. Some sections may be muddy after wet weather. Gradients generally moderate to gentle. Occasional short fairly steep sections. Meet for car sharing at Livingston North Railway Station South Car Park at 9.00 am.
