Overview

8 miles, starting from the village, uphill past St Lawrence's Church onto the WW2 Observer Post with good views over Napton and beyond. We pass Napton Windmill, then head downhill to join the Oxford Canal, passing Napton Marina and then onto the Grand Union Canal. Leaving the canal at Calcutt Locks, we follow bridleways and field paths to Lower Shuckburgh, then onto Shuckburgh Hills with attractive views from the summit of Beacon Hill. We return to Napton where refreshments are available at the King's Head.
