Overview

Our annual walk to the Three Brethren will leave Linglie Road at 10.00 am. We climb on easy tracks up through woods in Corby Linn, to the former reservoir, where there is an optional diversion to Tibbie Tamson's grave. Above the former reservoir, the valley opens up and a pleasant walk leads easily to the summit cairns, with fine views in all directions. We skirt the northern slopes of Peat Law, dropping down between it and Linglie Hill to pass through fields to regain Linglie Road.

There will be a lunch stop and drinks stops as required. In the past 2 years, one of the cafes on Market Place in Selkirk has been open after the walk.

The car park at the foot of Corby Linn is often full, and it is recommended that cars are parked on the "no through road" section of Linglie Road. Coming into Selkirk from Galashiels or Melrose, turn right onto Buccleuch Road and right again at the T junction onto the A707/Linglie Road, to cross the Ettrick Water. Where the A707 turns sharply right, turn left, passing the entrance to Philipburn House Hotel, to ensure that the approach to it is not obstructed.
