Starting at the Roundhouse Cafe, by the dam of Loch Doon we will leave around 10.20-10.30, taking the high path beside the Ness gorge out to toward Craigengillan. We follow the rising track up onto Eriff Moor out to Loch Muck. After a break, we will return on much the same route, but we will follow the path through the gorge in Ness Glen back to the cars. The route is about seven miles, with an overall height gain of about 200 metres in the second half of the outbound section.

Directions Drive to Loch Doon which takes 40-45 minutes. Drive to Ayr on the A78 and A77. Follow the signs from the third significant roundabout out past the hospitals on the A713
Drive to Dalmellington from Ayr following this road. Pass through the town still following the main road and onward for about two miles until a road on the right signposted Loch Doon Castle.Then follow this minor road to the dam and the Roundhouse Cafe. There is plenty of parking at the café, which is now closed. The location is: Doon Road, Ayr KA6 7QE
