The final part of St Swithun's Way. We will start at New Alresford walking for about 15 minutes from the bus stop before picking up the Way to the South of New Alresford. The walk runs along the side of the Itchen River and there are some watercress beds.
We will stop for lunch at Ovington where there is a pub and a churchyard. Please bring a picnic as there will not be time for a pub lunch, as we will have a short lunch break. We then continue the walk, some quiet roads, some fields and some paths by the river, passing a wild life wetland nature reserve just before we reach Winchester.
When we arrive at Winchester, there should be time to visit the Cathedral should you wish, as long as we keep up a good pace, on the door admission is £13.50 and it is open until 17.00. There are also many pubs and cafes in Winchester and we will be passing the station on our way into Winchester if you want to get straight back on the train.
