The walk starts from Amersham passing through old Amersham we then pass through Coleshill village which is 550 m high. We then pass through some minor woodland and there is a nice view of the Chiltern hills towards Wendover. We then walk through Winchmore Hill passing the Potters Arms pub then heading across the edge of the Village green toward Penn Street for our picnic lunch stop. There is a choice of two pubs The Squirrel and Hit or Miss. Toilet facilities in the pubs there are plenty of benches surrounding the Village green. Bus times 12:36 & 13:36 to Amersham station for anyone dropping out.
Afternoon we follow the path through Penn Wood and then arriving at Beamond End which was the 13th Century home of the Penn family. William Penn founded North American Colony of Pennsylvania in 1681. We then follow a lane for a mile to Little Missenden which is the fifth village then follow the South Bucks Way back to Old Amersham High Street and then the finish at Amersham.
Take the 09:30 train from Baker Street station Metropolitan line arriving at Amersham10:27 or take the Chiltern line from Marylebone station at 09:57 arriving at Amersham at 10:32.Check train times on the day as timetables can change.
