Overview

** DATE CHANGE!**
** PLEASE NOTE THIS WALK IS NOW ON BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY 5 MAY **

Starting from the 12th-century Holy Trinity Church in Nuffield, this beautiful walk leads you along stretches of the ancient Ridgeway and the historic Grim’s Ditch earthworks, before joining the Chiltern Way. You’ll enjoy sweeping views across the Oxfordshire plain from Berrins Hill, before descending gently into the charming hamlet of Checkendon, home to another stunning 12th-century church, where we'll stop for a picnic lunch. The route winds back through enchanting, bluebell-carpeted woodlands — especially magical in spring — with the option to visit the renowned Blue Tin Rare Breeds Farm Shop (bluetinproduce.co.uk) along the way. Here, you can sample and purchase award-winning, ethically reared rare breed meats, produced with traditional care and natural methods. A walk rich in history, beauty, and a taste of the very best local produce.

Please bring a picnic lunch. And anything else you might need for a walk of this nature. Hiking poles recommended.
